Falling well behind my self-set targets…ah well. Today’s thought comes from Marin Warner’s recent article in the LRB.
Apparently, in Arabic the root of the verb for ‘watering’ – raawa – is the same root as that for ‘storytelling’; a ‘storyteller’ is a ‘raawi’.
Thus narration is irrigation, narratives foster growth and quench thirst; they make their way like flowing water. Unstoppably.
