In the introduction to Primo Levi’s “The Drowned and The Saved” , Paul Bailey wrote, “The Drowned and the Saved warns us and reminds us that the unimaginable can happen again. A would-be tyrant is waiting in the wings, with ‘beautiful words’ on his lips.” Before several paragraphs later, going on to reassert that “‘the negators of truth’ are mankind’s constant enemy…”
…we lost sight of these facts somewhere along the way.
